Locals and visitors alike enjoy the Fairhope Municipal Pier for its spectacular views of Mobile Bay, fountain and rose garden, fishing, walking, dining, and bird watching. There is no cost to visit the pier, but a saltwater license is required for fishing, for visitors or residents under the age of 65 years old. Dogs are not permitted on the pier, but can walk with a leash along the trails of the adjacent North Beach Park.
The Fairhope Municipal Pier is located at the west end of Fairhope Avenue. Public parking is available on a first-come first-served basis. If visiting for a special event, make sure to arrive early to secure a spot. Additional parking can be found at the adjacent North Beach Park, but a fee may apply during the summer months.
The City of Fairhope hosts an annual Fourth of July Festival and Fireworks from the Fairhope Municipal Pier and Henry George Park. The celebration begins with festive patriotic music that will play throughout the fireworks display. Guests are encouraged to arrive early as parking is limited.
The Fairhope Municipal Pier is a popular spot for bird watching along the Gulf Coast. Listed as Site 23 on the Alabama Coastal Birding Trail, there is an abundance of bird life throughout the year including the Red-bellied Woodpecker, Northern Cardinal and Eastern Screech Owl, Blue Grosbeak, Summer Tanager and Acadian Flycatcher, Lesser Scaup, Common Loon, and American Coot.
